What a place, I honestly can't say anything bad about Evil Eye. If I had to say something negative there is way too much choice 🤣🤣 Every cocktail we had was fantastic and a shout-out to Alex behind the bar, really knowledgeable about his craft. Would highly recommend this place to everyone.

Just wanted to say that Alex is a top bartender - Visiting York for the first time with my girlfriend, as someone who has worked across multiple bars for many years in Manchester, this geezer knows his cocktails. Absolutely banging service, super busy but served 3 people at once, would come again. Loved it, 5*

Amazing little place , super friendly staff I can’t remember the two girls who served us but we basically did Animal Crossing noises and I told her she was good at “Bar”

Nicest cocktails I’ve ever had…really !! Was there for the open mic night, great atmosphere, staff were super friendly. 100% recommend if you’re in York and looking for cocktails :)

I went in for a fabulous cocktail!!! Bar service was brilliant! Right laugh!!!!
I then forgot my bag there and the amazing bar man Dan found my bag and gave it to me the next day!! Thankyou ever so much guys for an amazing service !!!

Really strange atmosphere, the layout upstairs is very odd and uncomfortable. You’ll struggle to find somewhere to sit and the music was very varied. I think for the price of the cocktails you would have a better time across the street at one of the other bars…

A very extensive cocktail menu, something for everyone and the drinks we had were good However, I waited almost 20 minutes at the bar, ignored by the server in favour of people who arrived at the bar after me, I felt invisible. Her colleague noticed and came over to serve me instead.
After one drink we went to Social 8 Lounge which was a very different, very enjoyable experience.

Cocktails are great (been before) but unfortunately we went when it was the Xmas markets and it was so rammed that we couldn't get near the bar and so couldn't get served. Couldn't even hear someone speaking stood next to you. Not the bars fault but not a great experience.

Super busy, but the cocktail menu is second to none, and I've never seen so many mocktails . I usually pay as much for a mocktail as I do for cocktails, but the mocktails were only £5 each, which I think is super cheap .

Live in the area and been advised to visit. After an afternoon wandering the Christmas market we headed here to have a cocktail. Seating was impossible and most areas were being 'saved' by one person (for others who were not yet there) by lying across the sofas stretched out. Found a place outside but was refused drinks as my 23 year old son didn't have his ID on him. Myself in my '50' was not 'allowed' to buy drinks! One, I think I know how old my son is as I gave birth to him (an experience you don't forget) and two he's clearly over 18, the legal age to purchase and drink alcohol. The irony was that the girl serving looked 19!! So we left and went to my favourite place Social and Lounge where we had a lovely evening in a clean environment with lovely attentive staff. Will I return to Evil Eye ......ermmm NO.

Frosty attitude from young lady on the bar when telling me that I was not allowed to order my drink. They are clearly taking the rules a bit far as I'm visibly 23 although they seemed to take pleasure in declining me my drink.
Atmosphere was not as good as last time. Will not be bringing any student union events here in future and will advise the student union as such.
